It is rare to see Federer’s feelings come to the surface, but he seems to have finally reached tipping point – and in what a spectacular fashion indeed!
With the match evenly poised at one set each, but down a break in the third to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of Miami, Roger went for a forehand drive but as has been too often the case in recent months, the shot flopped into the net and boom – Fed lost it.
What followed was a beautiful reshaping of the racquet in the very best guitar smashing style, followed by a mini-tantrum as he tosses the water bottle over his shoulder at the break.
Have a look for yourself…
Could this be the moment we’ve all been waiting for? It sure looked cathartic, and the immediate follow up (breaking Novak’s serve in next game) if not the final result (out of tourney) was not.
Is this the moment when the great Fed finally realises that he needs to make changes to his game? Work on that single handed back hand, adjust the forehand drive, hey, maybe even get a coach?
Don’t get angry Roger, get even!
